The development of this plan has been based on many rounds of consultation with the community through workshops at ICANN meetings through Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees and through public forums on the ICANN website. Members of the community have been very generous with their time and we appreciate the work that they have done. Based on feedback that we received from the first draft plan this July 2006 June 2009 plan is a short concise document. It gives a brief description of challenges and opportunities that ICANN is likely to face in the next few years and then outlines five strategic objectives for the ICANN community. Each of those objectives is then described in more detail and goals and targets have been set where appropriate. The strategic objectives in this plan will form the framework around which the operational plan is constructed. I look forward to working with the community in the coming months to put the first year of this plan into effect through the 2006-2007 Operational Plan.
