Content Inside: May 3 2006 of 13 Society for Technical Communication Interim Strategic Plan 20062007 Introduction We intend this interim strategic plan to guide the STC leadership through May 2007. The full board of directors and assistants to the president developed the highest-level strategies during a board meeting in January 2006. Sub-strategies also resulted from this meeting and we refined and organized all strategies in a planning team consisting of a subset of board members and two Society members who are not members of the board. In addition to the six strategies detailed in this plan the board also identified three additional areas of key concern: communications global culture and leading-edge technology. Associated Documents STC office staff will create a tactical plan for each strategy. Each tactical plan will include details of activities that support the strategy including the committees and office personnel responsible. For each activity the tactical plans will also include: Communication approach: STC leadership will ensure positive open honest and effective communication within STC and effective and strategic communication with external audiences. The STC Communication Strategy document will provide the strategic framework for all internal and external communication plans. Global outlook: all team members will promote global policies and practices work to change STCs culture to look outward align STCs services with its international presence and role and seek international participants. Leading-edge technology: STC will build and maintain a robust and relevant technology infrastructure to support all the strategies in this document and use leading-edge technology to enable collaborative communication between STC communities and members.
