•Community groups that improve
the quality-of-life in their neigh-
borhoods;
Conservancies that use private donations
from corporations or individuals
to purchase land and
preserve it from development.
Non-profit organizations that engage
in political advocacy or that bring
legal actions, or whose primary activities
are in response to government
RFPs, are not eligible for this award.
Up to five Awards are presented annually.
Gifts of up to $10,000 are presented
to the organization founded or led
by the award winner. Nominations may
be submitted by anyone familiar with a
persons or groups activities, including the
entrepreneur him- or herself.
Award applications for 2005 are
available from the Institutes web site
(www.manhattan-institute.org/se) after
January 5, 2005.
