• Conservancies that use private
donations from corporations or
individuals to purchase land and
preserve it from development.
Nonprofit organizations that engage
in political advocacy or that bring
legal actions, or whose primary activities
are in response to government RFPs,
are not eligible for this award, nor are
individual charter or private schools.
Five awards are presented annually.
Beginning in 2007 these prizes will
include one $100,000 grand prize-The
William E. Simon Award—and four
others of $25,000 each. These will be
presented to the organization founded
or led by the award winner. Nominations
may be submitted by anyone
familiar with a persons or groups
activities except for a current employee
of that person or group.
Award applications for 2007 are
available online after January 12, 2007
at www.manhattan-institute.org/se.
