Content Inside: TURKEY REPRESENTATION KONRAD ADENAUER FOUNDATION UNITED NATIONS ECONOMIC COMMISSION FOR EUROPE PROMOTION OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND SME SECTOR IN THE SOUTH-CAUCASIAN REGION Objective: Creation of a sustainable entrepreneurial environment for support to the development of entrepreneurship and SMEs in the South-Caucasian transition economies (Armenia Azerbaijan and Georgia) Outputs: Activities related to the identification of administrative barriers for development of the SME sector elaboration of strategy for development of an enabling supporting infrastructure strengthening the co-operatives in the region; and raising awareness towards entrepreneurship through best- practices and training of trainers in entrepreneurship in the countries involved. Target beneficiaries/concerned parties: National governmental policy makers local authority managers representatives of business support institutions and associations leaders of co-operatives trainers and teachers in business education entrepreneurs and NGOs. Estimated duration: Six month (July December 2003) Beneficiary countries: Armenia Azerbaijan and Georgia Executive agencies: Turkish Representative of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and United Nations Economic Commission of Europe Ankara and Geneva 2003 PREAMBLE At the 55 th session of the UN Economic Commission for Europe the Delegation of Georgia on behalf of the three countries of the South-Caucasus Region (Armenia Azerbaijan and Georgia) made a statement on the agenda item on Possibilities of Increasing the Regional Cooperation. In the statement the Head of the Georgian Delegation reconfirmed the support to the idea of UN/ECE to create a special programme for the South-Caucasian Region. H.E. Mr. Iraki Menagarishvili Minister of Foreign Affairs in his letter of 10 January 2001 sent to the UN/ECEs Executive Secretary highlighted the importance to start the process of establishing a Special Programme for the Region.
