S. Dr. Daphne Greenwood/Spr 06 Office: Columbine 1059 E-Mail: dgreenwo@uccs.edu Office hours: 1:45-2:45 TTH (or by appt.) Phone: 262-4031 Course Format: Lecture/seminar. Read assigned material before you come to class and be ready to participate with questions and comments. Use the key questions and focus on the application of economic concepts in the assigned reading. (Discussion based on recommended readings is encouraged and will be rewarded appropriately in class participation grade). Note that this class has more reading (about 75 pages a week assigned) than a typical economics course but less than a typical history course. Some of the assigned readings not in the two texts are on the web and others are on reserve in the library. Journal articles can be found in the library but cannot be checked out -- you should plan to Xerox them so that you can underline your copy and review later. Class participation and civility: Mutual cooperation and respect between students and professor are the bottom line. To successfully complete this class remember these basic rules: Respect for differences of opinion among students in the class is essential the university is about appreciating and understanding controversial ideas (even those you dont agree with) Promptness is appreciated please enter and be seated quietly if unavoidably late Do not allow others to schedule doctors appts airplane departures etc. during class time If absolutely necessary to arrive late or leave early please let me know in advance and take a seat by the door to minimize class disruption E-mail is the best way to reach me outside office hours -- I check incoming mail from official university accounts almost daily.
