Content Inside: INVESTMENT BUSINESS COMMERCIAL & FINANCIAL LAW In chronological order KYRGYZSTAN: Commercial Law Judicial Training in Kyrgyzstan (2005-Ongoing) The Project was jointly co-sponsored by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and IDLO. It was directed at improving technical legal knowledge of Kyrgyz judges in the commercial law sector. The first phase of the project included an assessment of the current situation in Kyrgyzstan to determine the most effective way of structuring the assistance required. As part of this assessment IDLO carried out a survey among all the judges involved in commercial dispute resolutions to identify existing needs and deficiencies in the current system of judicial training. The evaluation was conducted in two stages the first occurring in February and the second in June 2005. The results of this survey upon review are to provide the information required to establish an action plan and methodology for a long-term capacity building program that will furnish local judges with the know-how to increase the effectiveness of the commercial law system in Kyrgyzstan. MAURITANIA: Training for Mauritanian Judges (2002-ongoing) In 2002 IDLO entered a renewable two-year collaboration with the Mauritanian Ministry of Justice under the auspices of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the realization of a training program addressing various areas of commercial law including criminal and civil procedure company law and intellectual property. The annual program will be conducted again in the years 2004-2005. On July 18 2005 a group of 18 Mauritanian judges and lawyers including 8 women attended a fourth training session in Rome for a total of 8 weeks. REPUBLIC OF GUINEA: Banking Law Intellectual Property and Procedure Law Training Program for Professionals from the Training and Judicial Documentation Center (CFDJ) of the Republic of Guinea (2004-2005) The training program was the result of a partnership agreement ...
