Content Inside: International Business Communication ( Kansainvlinen yritysviestint) Doctoral studies in International Business Communication provide students with an opportunity to examine in depth issues of international business interaction intercultural communication as well as communication patterns and language use in multinational companies. Research in the subject is frequently oriented towards practical applications: IBC aims to identify and describe ways in which communication and language skills contribute to business know-how in multinationals as well as how communication can be developed to increase the global competitiveness of companies. The focus is mostly on communication where English is used as a lingua franca. Dissertations are written in English. Those planning to undertake Doctoral studies in IBC should ensure that they have a firm grounding in at least one of the following disciplines: linguistics communications organizational communication or cultural studies. At least some knowledge of all the areas is required or must be acquired during doctoral studies. Common Scientific Doctoral Studies 30 ECTS credits These are compulsory and common to all doctoral students. They comprise three baskets from which students choose at least one course (6 ECTS credits) from each. The studies are designed to give a thorough understanding of the scientific basis of business and economics as well as an ability to use sophisticated quantitative and qualitative research methods to research business and economic phenomena and processes.
