It may surprise you to know that in 2005 individuals were the source of nearly 77 percent of all charitable contributions in this country compared to corporations which contributed 5.3 percent. Most of these contributions went to religious organizations (35.8 percent) and education (14.8 percent). One would be hard-pressed to calculate the percentage given to entrepreneurship however despite the relative importance it plays in our society. Indeed it is entrepreneurship that fuels our economy and provides our communities with the goods and services that contribute to a better quality of life for all. Small businesses employ more than half of all private sector employees accounting for about 45 percent of the total U.S. private payroll.
