Content Inside: 2006 The Power of Many, The Impact of One Fidelity Â® Charitable Gift Fund SM Annual Report 2006 Â® T he Gift Fundâ€™s mission is to further the American tradition of philanthropy by providing programs that make charitable giving simple and effective. THE FIDELITY Â® CHARITABLE GIFT FUND S M A Letter From the Chairman Gift Fund donors have become a powerful force for philanthropy. DEAR FELLOW DONOR : Each year since the Fidelity Â® Charitable Gift Fundâ€™s SM inception, we have reported on the many giving milestones and achievements made possible by the generosity of Gift Fund donors. This year we are pleased to report that donors recommended a record number of grants, with the potential to touch the lives of individuals of all ages, in a diverse range of sectors. In fiscal 2006 alone, more than 195,000 grants were distributed to an estimated 48,000 non-profit organizations. This fiscal yearâ€™s record grant distribution brings the total of Gift Fund grants since inception to more than $6.1 billion. The continued generosity of Gift Fund donors impresses upon us the importance of supporting our mission â€œto further the American tradition of philanthropy by providing programs that make chari- table giving simple and effective.â€ To this end, we remain committed to making the Giving Account Â® an effective way to thoughtfully give. By evolving the program and providing new tools and resources, the Gift Fund can support donors as they build giving plans. As youâ€™ll read about in the balance of this report, this year, the Gift Fund has been busy working to improve its programs. With changes such as the reduced administrative fee and lower granting minimums, donors may choose to use the Giving Account for more of their charitable planning and giving. And, in an effort to get more people involved in charity and make organized giving more readily accessible, we lowered our account establishment minimum as well.
