Abstract This paper presents the basic design considerations and developed functionality in the Distribution Operation Management System (DOMS) implemented at Peru-based Electrical Distribution Company Luz del Sur (LDS). The implemented System was both customized and extended from a commercial GE's PowerOn base product in order to meet a comprehensive set of particular high-level requirements posed by Luz del Sur's professional end users. The resulting system DOMS is a powerful computational platform from which empowered dispatchers are enabled to manage in near-real time both planned and unplanned operations concerning the electrical network. Dispatchers are able to follow operations conducted on the field by driving and viewing the electrical network state in three diverse but synchronized environments: list-based view geographical- based view and the most important and widely used orthogonal schematics-base view. INTRODUCTION HIS document highlights design considerations and the core functionality implemented in DOMS for Luz del Sur (LDS) which is one of the major electrical distribution companies in Peru supplying southern half of Lima attending more than 700000 regulated customers. DOMS is based on the same AM/FM/GIS platform used by LDS as its Enterprise- wide core spatial information enabling technology fully object oriented. DOMS delivers all the necessary capability for the effective management of operations performed upon electrical network and customer service attention at an enterprise level.
