Content Inside: CREATE MOTIVATION Im low on motivation today. Ive got a bad attitude. I just dont have the will power to get it done. I never had much self-discipline. I just lack dedication. Im feeling lazy today. Guess Im not very ambitious. People say these things when they feel that something is missing from their lives. They often call that mysterious thing m o t i v a t i o n. The lack of it is their reason for not getting what they want in life. Pretend that motivation is a myth. Pretend that you dont need motivation or any other mysterious quality to start creating the life of your dreams. To some people this idea might seem like bad news. They might have to give up hoping that someone or something outside themsomething they lackcan magically infuse them with energy enthusiasm vigor or vitality. If motivation is a myth then people might have to give up the idea that finding a new boss new spouse or new self- help book will provide the kind of inspiration that leads to useful plans focused action and new results. A c t u a l l y seeing motivation as a myth could be good news. It means that we dont have to depend on anything outside ourselves to motivate or inspire us. We dont have to wait to develop motivation before we act. We can generate immediate consistent and powerful action by ourselves relying on our own choices and creativity. Find a motive Instead of talking about an abstract quality like motivation you can simply find a worthwhile motive for anything you do. Remind yourself about the long-term benefit of your planned action. The next task on your to-do list could be one step toward a degree a promotion or improving a relationship. It could mean satisfying your curiosity or solving a problem thats persisted for decades. Remembering these benefits can provide all the motivation you need to get started.
