Students may be admitted with advanced standing from college programs in journalism public relations or advertising. In such cases they must consult with their academic advisor to determine required credits and courses. General information Communication Studies is a cooperative program offered by Huntington University Laurentian University and Cambrian College. It was established through an articulation agreement among the three institutions. Its purpose is to provide students with a broad introduction to the field of communications along with focussed professional study in a specific communications field. A unique feature of the program allows students to introduce a cultural or native studies compo- nent. Students have the opportunity to focus on one specific area in fourth-year (journalism public relations or advertising). Graduates of Communication Studies will be literate in matters of contemporary com- munications theory and technology cultural sensitivity and ethical reflection and will have both a theoretical and a practical knowledge of a defined potential career field in journalism public relations or advertising. Program Students must complete the equivalent of four years of full-time study to obtain the Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies. They carry out the first three years at Laurentian University and the fourth year at Cambrian College in Sudbury. Cambrian College graduates who have completed the Advertising Diploma Program or the Journalism Diploma program may qualify for the B.A. in Communication Studies after successful completion of 60 credits.
