Content Inside: While Internet access has signifi- cantly simplified how the public can find and utilize government services it is essential that a high level of security is maintained. Consequently government entities responsibility of protecting their net- works information and databases from increasingly sophisticated intru- sion devices has become crucial. Regulatory compliance is another issue. In many countries govern- ments must routinely verify that they conform to security policies such as the Federal Information Systems Management Act (FISMA) in the U.S. These factors have compelled federal state and local govern- ment entities to work harder to stay ahead of the curve in adopting new and innovative security pro- grams and technologies.
